Help! My bra doesn't fit right!

If your wire is poking you, this is a clear sign that the cup is too small.

Your wire should sit flat against your ribs and fully encapsulate your breast tissue. If your bra is poking and prodding, the wire and cup are too small. Try going up a few cup sizes.

If you are still unsure, visit our fitting guide, or book in a fitting with Melissa here.

Your straps should not be doing any of the heavy lifting! 80% of the support in your bra comes from your band, so if you feel like your boobs are weighing your straps down, you need to go down in the band.

Your band should be snug but comfortable.

If you are still unsure, visit our fitting guide, or book in a fitting with Melissa here

In short, yes, but this shouldn’t be a cause for concern if your bra fits you properly.

Your band should be snug, but comfortable, and because if this, you’ll get marks around your back and under your boobs, same as if you have tube socks on, or a hair tie around your wrist, you’re going to get an indent.

That being said, these marks should never be sore, deep, irritated, and should never break the skin! This issue can be caused by the band being both too tight, snd too big.

Seeing these red marks from a well fitting bra can be concerning, as most people wear band sizes too big, and when you size down to the correct size, you’re naturally going to get these marks and the alarm bells (naturally) are going to go off.

If you have any questions about the fit of your bra, see our fitting guide here.

The simple answer is your back band is too big.

The band is responsible for 80% of the support in your bra, and should be snug but comfortable. You should be able to get two fingers under the band and pull it away 1-2 inches from your back, any more, and it’s a sign that the band is too big.

The band should sit horizontal around your body, if it rides up at all, this is a clear sign that it is far too big.

Check out our fitting guide for advice on how to fix this problem.

We’re going to make an assumption here… you are probably wearing a padded/T-Shirt style bra.

If so, gaping can occur due to you not having enough volume in your boobs to, well, fill the cup.

These styles of bra are readily so readily available on the high-street and in supermarkets (possibly because they’re easier to make?) But the truth is, not every body suits them.

Try a “cut and sew” style bra like the Panache Allure Full Cup Bra, this style has a stretch lace top cup and will mould to the shape of you, not the other way about.

If you have gaping and you aren’t wearing a T-Shirt Bra, this could be a style issue, or size issue. Check out our fitting guide or style guide for advice.
